The lists are compiled based on surveys completed by more than 715,000 Condé Nast readers sharing their recent travel experiences. Their responses help Condé Nast Traveler select the winners of their annual Readers’ Choice Awards, which are the longest-running awards of this kind.
2020 marked the 33rd consecutive year that this prestigious award has been given and was the most unique year in the history of these awards since travel was halted or hugely impacted for much of the year. For the 33rd edition, readers mentioned favorite places they were dreaming about and had a heavy nostalgia for returning to.
